Subject: P-30 Bell Crank adjustments

“In my very prejudiced opinion, there are only two real fixes (to P-30 Bell Crank Supports). One would be to either rebuild or buy a rebuilt bell crank shaft support assembly. You will end up with the same poor design and in a few thousand miles will once again have a loose lower bushing. (Some will disagree with me!)

The other fix is to replace the Chevy OEM unit with the Henderson [SuperSteer] Bell Crank assembly. They have adjustable Timken Tapered Roller Bearings and a grease cap. However, they NEVER need adjustment or lubrication…. Yes, they are expensive, but if you install them, and have a wheel alignment, they will not require further attention. I’ve installed a bunch of them and have never seen one ‘loosen up’…. (italics ours)

In other words, penny-wise, pound-foolish….
